Carob powder is a natural substitute for cacao and chocolate. Compared to cacao, carob has a naturally sweet taste. Meaning you'll need to add less sugar to chocolate, chocolate milk or chocolate cake made from carob. Carob powder also has a lower level of fat. Either does it contain any caffeine. And those suffering a chocolate allergy can safely enjoy carob powder.
Our carob powder is raw. We do grind sun-dried pods of the carob tree into a fine powder, with any further processing.
Use 1,5 to 2 times as much carob as you would normally use cacao. The amount of sugar in the recipe can then be brought down with the same weight. For example, 75g of carob powder replaces 50g of cacao. Lower the amount of sugar by 25g.
